Thai Style Teaching Methods:

Thai is a tonal language so for westerners who are not used to speaking with tones the most effective way to learn is with native speakers who can help you pronounce the tones, correct your pronunciation and answer your questions. If you follow our steps to learn with a native speaker we expect most students will speak great Thai after about 30 hours tuition.

Private tuition helps individuals learn at their own pace and speeds up the learning process by focusing on strengths and weaknesses.

One hour lesson plan

This is a rough outline for a one hour lesson but the methods will be adapted to suit every individual.

2-5 minutes: Meet and greet

10-15 minutes: Revision from the last lesson

20-30 minutes: learn the content of the lesson and practise

10-15 minutes: Free conversation in Thai

End of the lesson: If there is still some time left, your teacher can have free conversation with you but try to relate to Thai language, Thai culture or Thai subjects of intrest.

You will require a lot of practise to help you to memorize the Thai alphabet and Thai grammar. Your teacher will also help to correct your pronunciation and practise conversation, for example, how to move your mouth correctly and what is the right tone for each word. Your teacher will explain about all the words or sentences in every detail, for example, the meanings, how to use, when to use and maybe what and where is the origin of the word, such as, having roots from other languages.

This system is flexible. It depends on your ability and if you are a fast or slow learner. This is the art of adapting your lessons to fit your needs and to make sure you get the most out of every lesson. Thai pronunciation is very hard for westerners and sometimes takes time to adjust your tongue. Some lessons, you do not need to learn to pronounce everything as the materials may emphasize more on grammar rather than pronunciation.
